Damage from contractors can be another reason you have problems with dust in your home. If someone has been near the ductwork and damaged it the potential for dirt and dust to be introduced into the ductwork increases.
Rodents or animals may have near or around your ductwork looking for a place to get warm or cool. Damage to your ductwork can happen when an animal or rodent opens up the ducts through the use of claws or teeth. The suction created from the pressure in the duct in turn pulls dirt, dust and debris into your system and he distributes it into your home.
